JOB SUMMARY: The Director of Operations supports the Chief Operations Officer in overseeing day-to-day operations across Boys & Girls Club of the Northern Plains locations. This position helps ensure Clubs operate safely, consistently, and effectively while supporting Unit Directors, program quality, staffing, membership operations, compliance, and communication.
This position also supervises the BGCNP Diversion & Teen Court Director and provides oversight of the Diversion and Teen Court program to ensure strong program delivery, accountability, and alignment with organizational expectations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Club Operations Support
  • Support the COO with daily operations across assigned Club locations.
  • Work with Unit Directors to ensure sites are following schedules, staffing plans, budgets, policies, and procedures.
  • Assist with problem-solving related to staffing, member safety, parent concerns, programming, and facility needs.
  • Provide on-site support to Clubs as needed.
Staff Support and Accountability
  • Support Unit Directors with staff coaching, training, onboarding, scheduling, and accountability.
  • This position also supervises the BGCNP Diversion & Teen Court Director and provides oversight of the Diversion and Teen Court program to ensure strong program delivery, accountability, communication, and alignment with organizational expectations.
  • Help monitor staffing levels based on attendance, budget, and program needs.
  • Reinforce professional expectations, customer service, and positive Club culture.
Program Quality and Member Experience
  • Support high-quality programming aligned with Boys & Girls Club priorities.
  • Assist with program schedules, transitions, behavior management, and daily youth expectations.
  • Help ensure consistent use of behavior policies, incident documentation, parent communication, and member success plans.
Membership, Compliance, and Systems
  • Support enrollment, attendance tracking, member files, and parent communication systems.
  • Assist with MyClubHub/member management troubleshooting and staff training.
  • Help ensure Clubs follow safety, supervision, transportation, check-in/check-out, meal, and incident reporting procedures.
  • Support audits, reports, licensing-related needs when applicable, grants, Diversion and Teen Court reporting needs, and internal reviews.
Communication and Leadership
  • Serve as a support resource to Unit Directors and keep the COO informed of operational concerns and trends.
  • Help improve communication between Club leadership, staff, families, and administrative teams.
  • Support audits, reports, licensing-related needs when applicable, grants, Diversion and Teen Court reporting needs, and internal reviews.
  • Assist with new initiatives, operational changes, and organizational priorities.
  • Represent the Club professionally with staff, families, school partners, community members, and outside agencies.

SCHEDULE AND TRAVEL: This is a full-time position. Some evening, early morning, or occasional weekend hours may be required based on Club needs, events, trainings, meetings, court-related programming, or emergencies. Travel between Club locations is required and may be up to 40% of the position.

EMPLOYMENT QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s degree in education, human services, recreation, business, nonprofit management, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience in youth development, after-school programming, childcare, education, or nonprofit operations preferred.
  • Supervisory or leadership experience required.
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to support multiple sites, manage competing priorities, and follow through on details.
  • Experience with staff coaching, behavior management, family communication, and program planning preferred.
  • Ability to remain calm, professional, and solution-focused in challenging situations.
  • Commitment to the mission of Boys & Girls Clubs and supporting youth, families, and staff.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Capacity to observe, interact with, and communicate effectively among youth, staff, volunteers, and parents to ensure a safe and supportive Club environment.
  • Ability to stand, walk, or sit for extended periods during a shift.
  • Ability to safely operate general office equipment (computers, phones, copiers).
  • This position is safety-sensitive and requires consistent awareness of and responsiveness to the safety of all Club members.
