CLASSIFIED: Full Time, Exempt
PAY RANGE: $45,000–$55,000 based on experience


MISSION: To inspire and enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible, and caring citizens.

JOB SUMMARY: This is where Great Futures get built - and the Program Coordinator is right at the center of it. Reporting to the Unit Director, the Coordinator plans, leads, and evaluates programming that helps kids grow, while supervising program staff and supporting daily Club operations. Every interaction reflects the 5 Key Elements of Positive Youth Development (fun, safety, recognition, supportive relationships, and opportunities & expectations) and the Club's core values: excellence, teamwork, impact, and integrity.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Program Planning & Implementation
  • Plan and oversee high-quality programs that drive BGCA's priority outcomes: Academic Success, Good Character & Leadership, and Healthy Lifestyles
  • Build programming that is fun, engaging, developmentally appropriate, and produces measurable impact
  • Evaluate programs regularly and adjust to meet member needs
  • Provide program content for newsletters, publications, and reports
Staff Leadership & Supervision
  • Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate assigned direct reports under the direction of the Unit Director
  • Provide leadership, direction, and on-the-spot and reflective feedback to staff and volunteers
  • Promote and model the Club's core values: excellence, impact-driven work, teamwork, and integrity
Youth Development & Member Services
  • Establish an environment that ensures the health and safety of all members
  • Be on the floor assisting with floor management when members are in the Club
  • Manage behavioral and disciplinary issues per Club policy
  • Support new member orientation in partnership with Club staff
  • Communicate daily with the Unit Director on overall Club and program operations
Community Engagement & Outreach
  • Promote the Club during school open houses, community events, and partner activities
  • Work collaboratively with community partners to enhance services
  • Assist with all special events at the Club
Operational Support
  • Create staff schedules and ensure appropriate staffing coverage
  • On snow days, no-school days, and unexpected full days, cover shifts as needed to ensure the Club can open safely
  • Attend all required organizational meetings, including monthly all-staff meetings and supervisor meetings
  • All other duties as assigned in support of the Club's mission and operations

EMPLOYMENT QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, or three years of equivalent experience in a related field
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience working with youth-serving organizations
  • Demonstrated experience working with youth preschool through 12th grade
  • Supervisory experience preferred, ideally in a youth-serving or nonprofit environment
  • Strong leadership presence with the ability to coach, mentor, and hold staff accountable
  • Positive, solutions-oriented outlook
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Understanding of youth development principles and behavior management aligned with the Club's core values of fun, supportive relationships, recognition, high expectations, and safety
  • Ability to provide both immediate and reflective feedback that supports positive youth development

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Capacity to observe, interact with, and communicate effectively among youth, staff, volunteers, and parents to ensure a safe and supportive Club environment
  • Ability to stand, walk, or sit for extended periods during a shift
  • Ability to safely operate general office equipment (computers, phones, copiers)
  • This position is safety-sensitive and requires consistent awareness of and responsiveness to the safety of all Club members
